Questions and Answers

Q: What is the Panorama Scholarship Foundation?
A: A family with local ties established this foundation to anonymously provide scholarships to Panorama HS graduates and graduates of former schools that are now part of the Panorama School District.  The foundation's goal is to support students in their quest to further their education.

Q: Who is eligible?
A: Any student meeting graduation requirements from Panorama HS with plans for post-secondary education (minimum of 2 year program) at an accredited institution is eligible so most community college programs, universities, and many specialty institutions qualify.  Former students of schools that merged into the Panorama School District are also eligible to apply.

Q: What does this scholarship provider most want to see from an applicant?
A: Preference will be given to those students who have confidence to pursue a degree, but applicants do not need to have the highest marks in the academic indicators for college success (ACT, HS GPA, class rank).

Q: How do I apply?
A: An online application is available by clicking on the New Application link at the left.

Q: Do I need to send in my transcript with ACT scores?
A: Yes, your transcript and ACT scores are used in the selection process.  At the bottom of the application form, there is a file upload utility which will allow you to upload files containing your transcript and ACT scores.

Q: What is the award?
A: The amount of money will likely vary each year as the number of recipients and funds available will vary each year. In recent years recipients have received an initial $1,500 (for the first semester of college) and have had opportunity to share their academic progress three more times for an additional $1,500 each semester (through the end of the second year of college).

Q: How is the money awarded to me?
A: On Sept. 1 a check for $1,500 is written by the foundation and mailed to the financial aid office of the institution you are attending.  The check is made out jointly to you and the college and is to be used for your college bills.  This means the money goes towards college bills (tuition, meal plan, etc.). You will have to visit the financial aid office to co-sign the check and arrange to have it applied to your college account.  For this reason it is critical to provide the foundation with the correct college address and provide updates if you change colleges.

Q: If I am selected as an award winner in high school, how do I apply for continued awards during college?
A: When you have final grades after the first semester of college, you submit your grades online via the Panorama Scholarship Foundation website.  Each semester for a total of four semesters this award will be renewed if your grades are 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.  A copy of your official grade report must be uploaded to the website by January 20 (following fall semester) and August 20 (following spring semester).  Transcripts must be submitted online at www.PanoramaScholarship.org/Scholarship-Recipients.

Q: What if I choose to attend a different college than the one listed in my application or if I decide to transfer after one semester?
A: As long as you are attending an accredited educational program or institution, you may continue to receive the Panorama Scholarship Foundation award until it is fulfilled.  Let the foundation know the name of your new institution as soon as possible and checks will then be sent to your new institution.
